Ocean BornPress for the 2013 Santa Cruz Sea Glass & Ocean Art Festival Festival Celebrates Ocean Tumbled Offerings NEW $1000 PRIZE PIECE CONTEST RULES FOR 2015 - NEW CATEGORIES - MORE CHANCES TO WIN! In response to public feedback, the $1000 Prize Piece Sea Glass contest to be held on Sunday November 8th will have new rules and catagories. Ten $100 cash prizes will be awarded with categories (based on entries submitted): 1) Best orange, 2) Best red, 3) Best yellow, 4) Best turquoise, 5) Best bottle stopper, 6) Best marble, 7) Best ocean pottery, 8) Most historic, 9) Most unusual and 10) Judges favorite. The new categories will allow for a larger scope of winning pieces - from beaches all over the world (not just our local favorite of Davenport). Previous winning pieces will not be eligble for re-entry and artists/vendors are not allowed to enter. I hope this will encourage more of you to enter your favorite piece of sea glass! Thank you for the feedback and I look forward to seeing you at the festival this year! Dates: November 7 & 8th daily from 10-5pm. Admission $5 daily (CASH ONLY at door) - 10% donated to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary! This festival has raised thousands in donations to the Sanctuary - the Ocean Thanks you! "PRIZE PIECE RULES" Contest will be held on Sunday 11/8/2015. Enter your sea glass treasure to win (each entry $2 - 10 entry limit per person - vendors are not allowed to enter). Entries must be submitted by the contestant (in-person) on Sunday from 10am-3pm, to the Prize Piece booth located in the Sun Room Terrace. Entry forms are filled out by the contestant with clear name, phone number and brief description of piece. Each entry will be given a specific ticket number (stapled on the entry form) and an attendant will place entries on a table that corresponds to the contestants last name, with specific entry form number. The pieces for entry will be attached to contestant's entry form by glue dots. Copy of ticket number shall be given to contestant and will serve as receipt for return. Security will be provided during entry, however, Santa Cruz Sea Glass and it's attendants will not be held responsible for lost or stolen entries. Judging will commence at 3:00 with winners being announced at 4:00pm. Contestants should not speak to judges during the judging process. Judging shall be determined by Industry experts, sea glass collectors, and/or sea glass professionals. Prizes shall be awarded based on sea glass color rarity (Orange, Red, Turquoise, and yellow - or a combination of all) and condition (best being entirely frosted with no nicks, chips or cracks). All entries must be picked up by their owners by end of festival on Sunday 11/8. Contestants are responsible for picking up their entries after the contest is over. Pick-up of entries shall correspond with contestants Last name and will be in groups, starting with A ending with Z. Please be patient, we will do everything to expedite the return process and make sure your prize piece is safely returned. So bring your piece for a chance to win $$$CASH$$$ Please note: Vendors, Judges and their families are not eligible to win.
